KUB Coin (KUB) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2021. It serves as the native utility token of the KUB Chain, a smart contract platform, while also circulating as an ERC-20 asset on Ethereum.
The token powers the KUB Chain ecosystem, functioning as payment for on-chain operations. On the Bitkub exchange—Thailand's first fully licensed digital asset platform—KUB converts into fee credits, directly reducing trading costs for users. It also anchors the network's security model by enabling staking participation.
KUB Coin operates on its own blockchain, the KUB Chain. The infrastructure supports smart contract deployment, positioning it as a regional alternative to generic layer-1s. Validators and delegators interact directly with the protocol to produce blocks, bonding KUB as economic collateral.
The protocol hashes transactions using the Keccak algorithm, identical to the cryptographic primitive underpinning Ethereum. While the native coin lives on the KUB Chain, an ERC-20 representation circulates on Ethereum, enabling cross-ecosystem liquidity. Staking by validators and delegators provides the sybil-control mechanism, with no further consensus details publicly documented.
Bitkub Coin emerged from the Bitkub exchange, a Bangkok-headquartered entity that secured Thailand's first digital asset broker license. The token debuted on April 27, 2021, initially serving as a straightforward exchange utility before the mainnet launch of the KUB Chain expanded its scope.
The project envisions a tightly integrated hub where centralized trading infrastructure and sovereign blockchain rails converge. By bridging the off-chain liquidity of a regulated exchange with an open smart contract network, it targets a market niche frequently underserved by global venues—Southeast Asia's retail and institutional traders seeking local compliance alongside decentralized functionality.
KUB serves as the gas unit for every state change on the KUB Chain, from simple transfers to intricate contract calls. Holders can swap it into exchange-specific credits that slash trading fees on Bitkub, aligning incentives between on-chain activity and centralized order books. Simultaneously, validators must stake KUB to join the active set, and delegators assign their holdings to earn a proportional cut of inflationary rewards.
A validator stakes a substantial KUB position to operate a node, earning block rewards and a portion of network fees. Delegators who lack the resources or desire to run infrastructure allocate tokens to trusted validators, thereby participating in consensus and receiving a share of the validator's earnings. Traders on Bitkub routinely convert KUB to fee credits, compressing their per-trade costs below the standard schedule.
KUB Coin has a maximum supply of 110,000,000 tokens. Currently, 68,974,776 are in circulation, representing roughly 62.7% of the total supply. With a market capitalization of $61,088,317, KUB Coin ranks #420 among all cryptocurrencies.
