Treehouse (TREE) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2021. The protocol carves a highly specific niche: decentralized fixed income infrastructure for a market that, in traditional finance, eclipses equities by a wide margin but remained nearly invisible on-chain prior to its debut.
Fixed income markets in crypto were a ghost—no benchmark rates, no term structures, just perpetual floating-rate pools. Treehouse assembles two primitive layers to populate that void. DOR (Decentralized Offered Rates) functions as a LIBOR-inspired mechanism where a network of staked panelists submits forward rate expectations, enabling interest rate swaps and fixed-rate loans. tAssets, branded as LST 2.0, are liquid staking wrappers that arbitrage the spread between lending yields and native staking returns, stabilizing the entire rate environment.
Treehouse operates on the Ethereum network. Its token shares an identical contract footprint on BNB Smart Chain, a deliberate redundancy that extends cross-chain composability without fragmenting liquidity.
The TREE token is an ERC-20 asset, mirrored as a BEP-20 token on BSC, ensuring native compatibility with the dominant smart contract virtual machine. In the DOR protocol, panelists—market makers and institutions—stake TREE as an honesty bond; their submitted rate estimates aggregate into a tamper-resistant benchmark. The tAsset wrappers, such as tETH, algorithmically rebalance liquidity between lending markets to drag borrowing rates toward staking yields, while capturing a bonus yield for holders.
The project surfaced on June 29, 2021, incubated by Binance Labs (now rebranded YZi Labs). Its token entered circulation via a Binance Launchpool event and a HODLer airdrop, a distribution strategy that broadcast TREE to a wide swath of retail and institutional participants early on. That same affiliation brought listings under Binance’s Liquidity Enhancement Program and inclusion in Alpha airdrop campaigns, accelerating initial market depth.
The protocol’s driving thesis is that decentralized finance cannot mature without the yield curve and tenor instruments that define global bond markets. Treehouse engineers a verifiable, on-chain offered rate and yield-unifying wrappers to provide the missing foundational layer. It rejects the status quo of fragmented, floating-rate lending for a systematic framework where fixed-income strategies—carry trades, duration hedging, structured products—can finally take root in smart contract environments.
TREE’s mechanical role centers on staking and governance. Panelists lock TREE to access the rate submission portal; their bonded position faces slashing if their submissions deviate too far from the median, a disincentive structure that grounds the benchmark in economic reality. Token holders direct protocol parameters—adjusting the panelist slate, collateral requirements for tAssets, and fee distribution logic—through on-chain votes, making the asset both a security deposit and a claim on evolutionary steering.
Panelists stake TREE to qualify for the DOR mechanism, posting a bond that can be forfeited if their rate reporting falls outside the consensus band. Governance participants leverage TREE to determine panelist composition and risk parameters for tAsset wrappers, exercising direct influence over the protocol’s operational constraints.
Treehouse has a maximum supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens. Currently, 156,122,449 are in circulation. With a market capitalization of $11,000,549, Treehouse ranks #1,151 among all cryptocurrencies.
