XSGD is a cryptocurrency launched in 2020. The asset exists as a Singapore Dollar-backed stablecoin, built from inception to enforce the Financial Action Task Force’s Travel Rule directly on-chain—a design that sets it unequivocally apart from the broader stablecoin market.
XSGD operates as a fully collateralized fiat token, narrowing the chasm between Singapore’s regulated banking infrastructure and the decentralized economy. Its single most acute differentiator remains that native, hard-coded compliance layer: originator and beneficiary data travels alongside the value transfer, satisfying the anti-money laundering obligations of virtual asset service providers without secondary oracles or retrofitted middleware. That capability erases the opacity and sluggishness of conventional correspondent banking for cross-border flows.
XSGD operates on the Ethereum network. The token also circulates natively across Solana, Avalanche, Polygon, Arbitrum, Zilliqa, Base, Hedera, and the XRP Ledger. Few fiat tokens have achieved this breadth of chain coverage.
On Ethereum and equivalent EVM execution environments, the contract adheres to the ERC-20 specification. Solana deployments exist as SPL tokens, Zilliqa mints use the ZRC-2 standard, and the XRP Ledger implementation functions as an issued currency within its native debt-and-credit system. Liquidity spreads across 138 active trading markets, supported by a constellation of automated market makers and order-book venues.
The token was issued by Xfers, a Singapore-domiciled payment institution regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Xfers launched its StraitsX initiative to digitize Southeast Asian fiat currencies, with XSGD going live in October 2020 as the program’s inaugural asset. Its arrival filled a structural void: a compliance-ready, non-USD stablecoin anchored to a major Asian reserve currency.
The long-term ambition pushes far beyond a simple peg. StraitsX intends to erect a sovereign-grade on- and off-ramp layer that hardwires the Singapore Dollar into permissionless protocols, diminishing the sector’s lopsided dependency on dollar-backed equivalents. A secondary objective routes regional trade settlement away from slow, expensive correspondent networks and into instant, atomic on-chain finality.
Mechanically, every unit of XSGD represents a one-to-one claim on Singapore Dollar reserves held with regulated custodians. Fiat inflows trigger minting; redemption requests permanently destroy the tokens, binding circulating supply to verifiable demand. The smart contract logic embeds identity payloads directly into transaction metadata, enabling transmitting institutions to discharge Travel Rule obligations at the protocol level rather than through external compliance stacks.
Payment orchestrators settle merchant transactions with XSGD to achieve real-time gross finality without introducing currency volatility. Algorithmic arbitrageurs flash the token across centralized and decentralized venues, compressing price spreads. Lending protocols accept it as collateral, letting borrowers access liquidity against SGD purchasing power instead of liquidating positions.
XSGD has a total supply of 19,834,526 tokens. Currently, 19,834,526 are in circulation. With a market capitalization of $15,547,930, XSGD ranks #971 among all cryptocurrencies.
