About BitcoinOS

BitcoinOS (BOS) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2025. It constitutes the token layer for an infrastructure system that grafts smart contract functionality onto the Bitcoin network without modifying its consensus rules.

The protocol’s central utility lies in making Bitcoin programmable. By embedding zero-knowledge verification directly on Bitcoin, BOS unlocks scalability for rollups, decentralized finance applications, and arbitrary asset issuance—all settled against the security bedrock of the world’s most immobile chain. Builders can finally deploy composable logic atop a base layer that had long resisted alteration.

BitcoinOS operates on the Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain networks. The token travels as both a BEP-20 and an ERC-20 asset, exploiting these execution environments to coordinate a Bitcoin-centric ecosystem without demanding its own standalone blockchain.

Two token contracts anchor the asset: one deployed on Ethereum, the other on Binance Smart Chain. The system’s zero-knowledge framework, called BitSNARK, condenses off-chain computation into succinct proofs that Bitcoin can natively verify. A companion mechanism, the Grail bridge protocol, weaponizes those proofs to shuttle BTC across rollups and external chains, sidestepping the custodial honeypots that have defined cross-chain infrastructure for years.

The project surfaced in late 2025, born out of a sustained effort to broaden Bitcoin’s expressive range without cleaving its codebase. Open-source from its very first commit, BitcoinOS coalesced around a hard thesis: Bitcoin could operate as a global settlement engine for decentralized applications, not just a statically held asset. Within months of the token generation event, BOS had carved out a trading footprint across 14 exchanges and 51 active markets, a signal of early speculative and utilitarian appetite.

The overarching goal is to rewire Bitcoin into a global infrastructure backbone for programmable money. BitcoinOS refuses to touch the underlying consensus, preserving the chain’s neutrality and immutability while layering an expressively permissive environment on top. This strata approach means any application that settles to Bitcoin inherits its uncompromising security without demanding a single soft fork.

The BOS token functions foremost as a governance instrument. Parameter adjustments for the Grail bridge, upgrades to BitSNARK’s verification circuits, and the direction of protocol development all fall under token-weighted voting. No centralized entity can unilaterally alter the rules; the distribution of BOS dictates the evolution of the stack.

Any actor seeking a binding voice in protocol direction must hold BOS. Rollup developers who settle fraud proofs to Bitcoin, liquidity providers facilitating trustless BTC movements, and off-chain provers all gain the ability to shape fee schedules and security thresholds proportionate to their holdings. The token converts economic alignment into direct, on-chain decision-making weight.

BitcoinOS has a maximum supply of 21,000,000,000 tokens. Currently, 4,313,800,000 BOS are in circulation. With a market capitalization of $1,711,019, BitcoinOS ranks #2,485 among all cryptocurrencies.
