Stoic AI's Meta Strategy Is Now Live on Hyperliquid

We have integrated the Meta strategy to Hyperliquid. The same market-neutral algorithm that has been trading live since April 2023 now runs on the Hyperliquid DEX, fully on-chain, with your funds staying in your own account the entire time.

This is the seventh exchange Stoic supports, and the first that is fully decentralized. If you have wanted to run a systematic, institutional-grade strategy without leaving your assets on a centralized exchange balance sheet, this is the setup for you.

What the Hyperliquid bot actually is

A Hyperliquid trading bot is software that executes a defined strategy on the Hyperliquid DEX on your behalf. In Stoic's case, that strategy is Meta: a quant-built, market-neutral algorithm that trades more than 40 crypto perpetual contracts and rebalances continuously, with no manual input from you.

The point is not to predict the next big move. The point is to remove discretion from the process. The algorithm runs the same rules every cycle, day and night, regardless of how the market feels on a given morning.

How the Meta strategy works

Meta is market-neutral. It goes long on assets that are outperforming the market and short on assets that are underperforming, both at the same time. The return comes from the relative performance gap between the two sides, not from the overall direction of crypto.

In practice that means the strategy is not trying to call the top or the bottom of Bitcoin. It is trying to capture the spread between stronger and weaker assets in a basket of 40+ perpetuals. When that spread is positive, the strategy earns regardless of whether the broader market is green or red. For a full breakdown of the methodology, see how we build and scale the Meta strategy.

Non-custodial: your funds stay yours

This is the part that matters most on a decentralized exchange. You connect Stoic to Hyperliquid using API keys with trade-only permissions. The bot can open and close positions, but it can never move or withdraw funds out of your account.

So your capital never sits on a Stoic balance sheet, and it never leaves your own Hyperliquid wallet. You stay in full control, and you can disconnect at any moment. Running on-chain also removes the counterparty risk that comes with holding balances on a centralized venue.

Track record

Meta has a track record going back to simulated results in January 2021, with live trading from April 2023. Over that combined period, the strategy has produced the following:

  • Annualized return: 41.1%
  • Sharpe ratio: 2.18
  • Maximum drawdown: -12.01%

The chart below shows the growth of a hypothetical $10,000 allocation. Everything to the left of the dashed line is backtested (simulated by applying the strategy rules to historical data). Everything to the right is live trading. Backtested results are hypothetical and do not represent actual trades.

For context on how that stacks up against peers, the comparison is worth reading carefully.

"Crypto Insights Group's live database shows that Stoic Meta outperformed the average market-neutral crypto hedge fund in both BTC and USDT returns throughout 2025 and 2026. Those results are based on live performance, not backtests, which makes the comparison especially meaningful. Bringing Stoic Meta to Hyperliquid was the natural next step: the same institutional-grade strategy, now running fully on-chain without the counterparty risk associated with centralized exchanges."

How to connect in three steps

Setup takes under five minutes and is the same as connecting any other exchange.

  1. Create your Stoic account. Sign up at app.stoic.ai. It takes under a minute and needs only an email, no KYC.
  2. Generate API keys on Hyperliquid. In your Hyperliquid account, create API keys with trading permissions. Make sure your balance is at least $500, the minimum required for Meta to diversify across 40+ perpetuals.
  3. Connect your keys in Stoic. Paste your Hyperliquid API keys into the Stoic web app. The Meta strategy takes over from there and trades your account around the clock.

If you want the detailed walkthrough, follow our step-by-step guide to connecting Hyperliquid API keys.

Fees, minimums, and lockups

Stoic charges a subscription fee scaled to your connected portfolio size, starting from $9 per month on annual billing. There is no performance fee, so all trading profits go directly to you. The minimum account size is $500, and there are no lockups: since your funds stay in your own Hyperliquid account, you can disconnect and withdraw whenever you want.
