Veritaseum (VERI) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2017. It functions as a peer-to-peer capital markets protocol, engineered to strip intermediaries out of global financial transactions.
The protocol’s core offering is a software stack that connects counterparties and assets directly, bypassing traditional third-party gatekeepers. This architecture targets the entrenched friction of centralized clearinghouses and authoritarian oversight in capital formation. By enabling direct, one-on-one interaction, the system shifts trust from institutions to cryptographic verification. Settlement takes place on-chain, dissolving the need for escrow agents or custodial holding periods.
Veritaseum operates on the Ethereum network.
The token is deployed as an ERC-20 standard asset on Ethereum, with a parallel contract on the Base Layer 2 chain. This dual-chain presence extends accessibility while maintaining composability within Ethereum’s decentralized finance ecosystem. The ERC-20 token leverages Ethereum’s security model, while the Base deployment reduces transaction costs and confirmation latency. Both contracts reference the same logical supply, guaranteeing unified accounting across both environments.
The project emerged from Japan in April 2017, marking its genesis at a time when initial coin offerings were beginning to reshape early-stage capital raising. Its launch targeted the fragmentation between traditional securities settlement and blockchain-based execution. Early documentation emphasized a vision of global, internet-native capital markets without jurisdictional gatekeeping, where participants negotiate terms directly.
The long-term ambition is a permissionless infrastructure where any internet-connected entity can originate, price, and settle financial agreements bilaterally. This model rejects the notion that capital markets require a centralized intermediary to guarantee finality, instead embedding execution logic into the software itself. In theory, the protocol can host debt instruments, equity-like tokens, and derivative contracts without manual clearance.
VERI functions as the settlement asset within the Veritaseum ecosystem, facilitating the bilateral exchange of value between counterparties. Its supply is programmatically capped at 100 million, and currently no tokens are in circulation, with the entire allocation held in custody by the protocol’s smart contracts.
To initiate or accept a capital market transaction on Veritaseum, counterparties must interact with the protocol’s contracts using VERI. This requirement ensures that all bilateral agreements are cryptographically anchored to the network, with settlement occurring atomically upon verification. Ongoing network participation may also require token-denominated fee payments, though the economic model remains opaque given the zero circulating supply.
Veritaseum has a total supply of 100,000,000 tokens. Currently, 0 are in circulation. With a market capitalization of $0, Veritaseum ranks #5,657 among all cryptocurrencies.
