Symbiosis (SIS) launched in 2021. It functions as a decentralized multi-chain liquidity protocol and cross-chain bridge aggregator.
It allows users to exchange tokens between any EVM and non-EVM chains—from Ethereum to zkSync to BNB Chain—without requiring wrapped assets or intermediate steps. The architecture aggregates decentralized exchange liquidity, ensuring that a swap between any token pair across chains executes at the best available price while the user remains the sole owner of the funds throughout the process. No third party, including Symbiosis staff, accesses user assets at any point.
Symbiosis operates on the Ethereum network as an ERC-20 token. The protocol deploys its smart contracts across multiple EVM-compatible networks including Arbitrum, zkSync Era, Linea, and Scroll, enabling cross-chain routing without fragmented liquidity pools.
The protocol’s multi-chain presence relies on standard token implementations across each connected network, with verified contracts on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Linea, Scroll, and zkSync. Symbiosis ingests liquidity from various decentralized exchanges, routing orders through an aggregation engine to minimize slippage and transaction costs.
Symbiosis launched in November 2021, with its token generation event occurring on November 24 of that year. The project quickly attracted backing from notable crypto investment entities, including YZi Labs (formerly Binance Labs) and DWF Labs, reflecting confidence in its cross-chain thesis. Since inception, the protocol has expanded from a single Ethereum deployment to a multi-chain presence spanning numerous Layer-2 and alternative Layer-1 ecosystems.
Symbiosis pursues a vision of borderless interoperability where any blockchain can exchange value directly without intermediaries or wrapped tokens. Its mission rests on dismantling liquidity silos and reducing the technical burden of cross-chain asset movement to a single-click action. By doing so, it challenges the fragmented bridge landscape that has historically hampered decentralized finance.
SIS is the governance token of the Symbiosis protocol. Holders submit and vote on proposals that determine operational parameters, such as supported chains, fee models, and treasury management. This governance utility embeds a direct role in the protocol’s evolutionary trajectory.
To influence governance outcomes, community members must hold SIS tokens. Voting weight scales with the size of one’s stake, meaning larger holders exercise proportionally greater sway over protocol upgrades, new chain additions, and fee structures. This mechanism ensures that those with the most economic exposure guide the protocol’s long-term direction.
Symbiosis has a maximum supply of 100,000,000 SIS tokens. Currently, 82,135,359.63 SIS are in circulation. The total supply stands at 99,489,760.94, leaving only a marginal gap before the hard cap is reached. With a market capitalization of $2,879,093, Symbiosis ranks #2,033 among all cryptocurrencies.
