Oraichain (ORAI) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2020, categorized as an AI-powered oracle and a nascent Layer 1 blockchain designed to infuse artificial intelligence directly into decentralized applications. The project stakes its claim as the world’s first platform to aggregate and connect AI APIs to smart contracts, setting a functional bridge between machine learning model outputs and on-chain execution.
The core utility orbits around solving a chronic deficit: smart contracts have no native eyes or ears for complex, off-chain data streams that require interpretive computation. Oraichain deploys AI-enhanced oracles that pull from over 100 AI APIs—spanning price feeds, generative models, and analytical engines—to feed refined, validated data into DeFi protocols, NFT projects, and decentralized autonomous organizations. Instead of merely relaying raw price ticks, these oracles perform on-the-fly inference and verification via virtual machines embedded in test cases, slashing intermediary trust assumptions. The ecosystem extends into an AI marketplace, a data and request hub, and a training service, aiming to condense the entire AI lifecycle into a single composable stack for Web3 builders.
Oraichain operates on the Ethereum network, with ORAI minted as an ERC-20 token. Bridged representations of the asset circulate on Solana, BNB Chain, and Osmosis, weaving a cross-chain fabric that lets AI compute be invoked from multiple settlement layers without requiring users to abandon their preferred domain.
The token adheres to the ERC-20 specification, while its foreign incarnations follow the SPL, BEP-20, and IBC token standards respectively. Oraichain’s infrastructure stitches together CosmWasm for smart contract execution, an on-chain verifiable random function, and AI-driven price oracles that recalibrate from multiple data sources in real time. This heterogeneous architecture sidesteps the single-chain bottleneck.
The project emerged in October 2020 without a hall of fame founder list, instead coalescing around a team domiciled in Singapore. Its inaugural application, yAI.finance, materialized as a DeFi aggregator that wields AI models to optimize yield strategies, offering an immediate proof-of-concept for the oracle’s capabilities. From there, the ecosystem accreted an AI marketplace, a royalty protocol for NFT copyright protection, and an AI-based NFT generation engine, each underscoring a data-first philosophy.
Beneath the product sprawl lies an architectural thesis: decentralized networks need native intelligence to break beyond static logic gates. Oraichain’s mission is to bake AI verification, model execution, and data curation into the consensus and application layers, so that smart contracts can autonomously trigger loan liquidations, adjust portfolio weights, or authenticate media provenance based on machine learning outputs without outsourcing trust to a centralized data provider. This vision elevates the oracle from a passive reporting tool to an active computational engine that can train, test, and deploy models across a distributed node set.
ORAI functions as the settlement gas and governance spine of the ecosystem. Validators commit ORAI to stake on the network, securing the validation of AI data integrity and the execution of CosmWasm smart contracts, while earning fees from data request settlements and AI service subscriptions. Every API call on the marketplace, every training job commissioned, and every data feed request consumes ORAI as a payment medium, creating a direct linkage between network utility and token velocity. Token holders steer protocol upgrades—including oracle sourcing parameters and fee modifiers—through on-chain voting.
Validators stake ORAI to bond itself to the network and collect a share of block rewards and AI service fees generated by market participants. Developers pay ORAI to pipe an AI creditworthiness prediction feed into a lending dapp’s liquidation logic. Liquidity providers deposit ORAI into yAI.finance vaults, where AI agents auto-compound yields across multiple chains.
Oraichain has a maximum supply of 19,779,272 tokens. Currently, 19,543,732 are in circulation. With a market capitalization of $9,598,684, Oraichain ranks #1,235 among all cryptocurrencies.
