Kima Network (KIMA) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2021. The asset anchors a financial infrastructure layer designed to bridge traditional banking systems with decentralized blockchain networks without relying on intermediaries or external settlement agents.
The protocol tackles a deep-seated fragmentation problem: institutional capital sits siloed in legacy ledgers while digital assets thrive on disconnected chains. Kima offers a single, asset-agnostic conduit that executes cross-ecosystem transfers transparently. Its patent-pending architecture sidesteps the endemic vulnerabilities of smart contracts, delivering a settlement environment hardened against exploits, appropriate for banks, exchanges, and enterprise treasuries.
Kima operates on its own sovereign blockchain built with the Cosmos SDK, and the token natively integrates with the Inter-Blockchain Communication protocol for rapid, trust-minimized interoperability. Simultaneously, the asset exists as an ERC-20 token on Arbitrum, tapping into Ethereum’s rollup-centric scalability and developer ecosystem.
On Arbitrum, the token adheres to the ERC-20 standard, enabling direct composability with decentralized exchanges and lending protocols. The Cosmos-side IBC denomination moves assets through the interchain without synthetic wrapping, relying only on native light client verification. This hybrid model eliminates single points of failure that plague monolithic bridges.
Launched in 2021, the initiative surfaced under the wing of Outlier Ventures, an accelerator known for nurturing Web3 infrastructure projects. Early technical decisions—adopting Cosmos for sovereignty and Arbitrum for Ethereum compatibility—signaled a deliberate focus on institutional accessibility. No single founder dominates the project’s history; instead, a diffuse team of cryptographers and financial engineers continues to iterate on the core settlement logic.
The long-term objective is to dissolve the operational boundary between fiat payment networks and decentralized ledgers. Kima aims to become a universal settlement rail where a dollar-denominated bank transfer can settle as tokenized value on a blockchain with finality measured in seconds, not days. True interoperability, in this vision, means never having to trust a relay or a custodian bridge.
Mechanically, KIMA is the gas token for the protocol’s settlement layer. Each cross-border, cross-chain transaction consumes a tiny fraction of KIMA to pay validators for ordering and attesting state transitions. The token also fuels a governance framework whereby stakers vote on fee parameters and protocol upgrades, directly tying economic exposure to network integrity.
Validators lock KIMA in a staking contract to join the active consensus set and earn a proportional share of transaction fees. Institutional users draw from liquidity pools seeded with KIMA to instantly swap between representations of fiat and crypto assets. Market makers can arbitrage price discrepancies across connected chains using the token as the common settlement unit, incentivizing efficient price discovery.
Kima Network has a maximum supply of 210,000,000 tokens. Currently, 67,983,638.44 KIMA are in circulation. With a market capitalization of $203,307, Kima Network ranks #4,786 among all cryptocurrencies.
