iShares Semiconductor Tokenized ETF (Ondo) (SOXXon) is a cryptocurrency representing a tokenized equity exchange-traded fund. It tracks the iShares Semiconductor ETF, embedding the underlying basket of chip manufacturers and semiconductor equipment suppliers into a programmable on-chain format.
The asset provides economic exposure equivalent to owning the iShares Semiconductor ETF, including the automatic reinvestment of any dividends paid by constituent companies. It solves a hard jurisdictional problem: non-U.S. retail and institutional participants often face steep barriers to accessing American securities markets. Through Ondo’s infrastructure, those users can mint and redeem tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs around the clock, five days a week, while still drawing on liquidity from traditional exchange order books.
SOXXon operates on the Solana network. Equivalent contract instances also exist on Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain, giving the token a multi-chain footprint that blunts single-network congestion risk and broadens the cohort of accessible decentralized venues.
On Solana, the asset exists as a SPL token. The Ethereum and BNB Chain deployments follow the standard ERC-20 and BEP-20 interfaces. That design preserves direct composability with automated market makers, custodial wallets, lending pools, and aggregators across three distinct ecosystems without requiring bespoke bridging middleware.
Ondo Finance, a platform focused on tokenizing real-world assets, rolled out the product under its Global Markets initiative. The launch extended the firm’s push to place conventional equity products on-chain, joining other tokenized funds in a sector that saw accelerated institutional curiosity after significant market structure shakeups. No single founder is credited with this specific issuance; instead it surfaced from the broader engineering and compliance apparatus at Ondo.
The central ambition is to collapse the clearance and custody layers that segregate global capital from U.S.-listed securities. Tokenizing the iShares Semiconductor ETF lets anyone with a self-custodied wallet gain synchronized economic exposure to a concentrated technology sector vehicle, bypassing legacy broker-dealer gateways and their time-zone handcuffs.
Mechanically, each SOXXon token functions as a cryptographic wrapper around a fractional interest in the ETF’s net asset value. Dividend flows from the underlying equities are channeled back into the fund and directly reflected in the token’s pricing. Authorized participants initiate minting by depositing actual ETF shares with Ondo’s custody partner, receiving freshly created tokens; redemption reverses that flow, burning the token to release the off-chain collateral. Arbitrage bots police any dislocation between the on-chain price and the fund’s indicative value.
A non-U.S. retail investor acquires SOXXon to hold synthetic exposure to companies like Broadcom or ASML outside normal stock market operating hours. Institutional trading desks mint large blocks when a premium opens on decentralized exchanges and redeem when a discount appears, capturing the spread. The token can be ported into DeFi protocols for lending, collateralized borrowing, or supplying to concentrated liquidity pools, generating additional yield on an asset that otherwise would sit idle in a brokerage account.
iShares Semiconductor Tokenized ETF (Ondo) has a total supply of 553.86 tokens. Currently, 553.86 are in circulation. With a market capitalization of $255,602, iShares Semiconductor Tokenized ETF (Ondo) ranks #4,499 among all cryptocurrencies.
