iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond Tokenized ETF (Ondo) is a cryptocurrency representing a direct tokenized claim on the iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond ETF. It belongs to a growing class of real-world asset tokens that bridge traditional fixed-income exposure with blockchain settlement.
The asset specifically targets a friction that has long excluded non-U.S. retail and institutional investors from efficient access to American credit products. By wrapping the underlying ETF shares into a blockchain-based token, Ondo Finance enables minting and redemption of these claims around the clock, five days a week, with all the liquidity of the conventional exchange-traded fund. A user in a restricted jurisdiction can thereby gain synthetic exposure to a diversified basket of high-yield corporate bonds without navigating the complexities of a U.S. brokerage account.
It does not operate on its own sovereign blockchain. Instead, HYGon is deployed as a multi-chain fungible token across Ethereum, Solana, and BNB Chain, leveraging the security models and validator sets of those established networks. The Ethereum deployment serves as the canonical issuance layer, while Solana and BNB Chain integrations extend reach into lower-cost, high-throughput environments.
On Ethereum, the token conforms to the ERC-20 standard and sits at the address 0xeD3618Bb8778F8eBBe2f241Da532227591771D04. Analogous representations exist on Solana as an SPL token and on BNB Chain as a BEP-20 asset. The coordinating smart contract enforces a mint-and-burn circuit directly linked to the underlying ETF share inventory held by a custodian, inheriting the finality and security properties of whichever host chain a user transacts upon.
Ondo Finance, the centralized issuer behind the product, structured the token as part of its Ondo Global Markets suite, which encompasses tokenized equities and ETFs. The HYGon token emerged amid a broader institutional push to tokenize traditional securities, responding to demand from wealth managers and on-chain protocols seeking compliant exposure to U.S. credit markets. Its documentation does not surface individual founder names, focusing instead on the regulated custody and issuance infrastructure.
The overarching mission is to rewire the plumbing of securities settlement by substituting atomic blockchain finality for multi-day legacy clearing cycles, while preserving the economic rights of the original ETF holder. This is about composability: an on-chain representation of a bond ETF can be deposited into DeFi lending pools, used as collateral, or integrated into automated treasury strategies without the jurisdictional and temporal frictions of the off-chain world.
The token carries no voting rights, staking yields, or network governance functions. Its sole mechanical purpose is to pass through the net asset value performance of the iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond ETF, inclusive of reinvested dividends, via a tight arbitrage loop. When an authorized participant deposits the underlying ETF shares with Ondo’s custodian, the smart contract mints an equivalent amount of HYGon; redemption reverses the process, burning the token and releasing the shares, keeping the on-chain price tethered to the fund’s indicative value.
An offshore institution holding HYGon gains synthetic exposure to a portfolio of dollar-denominated sub-investment-grade bonds without needing a U.S. prime broker relationship. A decentralized autonomous organization can allocate treasury reserves into the token as a yield-bearing alternative to stablecoins, given that the underlying ETF distributes monthly income. Market makers operating on the single active exchange pair arbitrage any drift between HYGon’s on-chain price and the ETF’s intraday value, reinforcing price alignment.
iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond Tokenized ETF (Ondo) has a total supply of 11,352.34 tokens. Currently, 11,352.34 are in circulation. With a market capitalization of $945,898, iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond Tokenized ETF (Ondo) ranks #3,017 among all cryptocurrencies.
