CloakCoin (CLOAK) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2014. Privacy is its entire reason for being.
A purely private, fully untraceable digital cash system—that’s the niche CloakCoin carves out. Where most transparent ledgers expose sender, receiver, and amount to permanent public inspection, this protocol severs the surveillance cord. It achieves fungibility by design, ensuring every coin holds identical value with no tainted history. The mechanism: an offchain coin mixing architecture dubbed Enigma.
CloakCoin operates on its own blockchain using hybrid - pow & pos.
The consensus layer combines proof-of-work mining with proof-of-stake validation, while the X13 hashing algorithm chains together thirteen distinct hash functions to frustrate ASIC dominance. Block production adheres to a tight 60-second interval. Enigma, the mixing layer, pools transaction inputs away from the main chain, then redistributes them in a way that breaks deterministic graph analysis. No centralized mixer, no trusted third party.
The project materialized on June 3, 2014, during a period when early cryptocurrency adopters began demanding stronger transactional privacy than Bitcoin’s pseudonymous ledger could offer. No individual founders are publicly attributed to its creation. It emerged alongside a small cohort of privacy-first assets that tested the technical limits of obfuscation well before zk-SNARKs entered common cryptographic parlance.
The protocol’s long-term aim is to replicate the anonymity properties of physical cash in a digital environment. Absolute fungibility remains the non-negotiable core, because any currency that can be blacklisted or subjected to taint analysis ceases to function as neutral money. That philosophy drives the entire technical stack.
CLOAK is the native fuel and the staking asset. Within the hybrid engine, validators lock tokens to propose and attest to blocks, harvesting a share of network emissions in return. Transaction fees splinter between miners and stakers according to the consensus weight. The coin also serves as the entry ticket to Enigma mixing rounds, where value is disassociated from static addresses.
Validators stake CLOAK to secure the network and earn protocol emissions. Merchants and individuals hold it to execute payments without revealing their financial footprint to chain surveillance firms. Liquidity providers may stock it on the handful of active trading pairs to facilitate the private settlement of value.
CloakCoin has an unlimited maximum supply. Currently, 6,140,703.46 CLOAK are in circulation. With a market capitalization of $4,290,905, CloakCoin ranks #1,760 among all cryptocurrencies.
