Chrono.tech (TIME) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2016, functioning as the native utility and governance token for an integrated suite of decentralized labor market platforms. The asset sits at the intersection of decentralized finance, neobanking, and global gig economy infrastructure.
The protocol directly targets entrenched inefficiencies in global recruitment, payroll, and cross-border payments. LaborX, its flagship peer-to-peer freelancer marketplace, uses smart contract-based digital agreements to escrow cryptocurrency payments until job completion, automatically releasing funds and offering a dispute resolution layer. TimeX, an Australian-regulated hybrid Plasma exchange, and PaymentX, a multi-currency invoicing system, extend that logic to asset trading and contractor payroll.
The token operates on the Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and Polygon networks. It does not run an independent blockchain; instead, it leverages the security and finality of these established ledgers to host its contract logic across multiple environments. TimeBridge, an internal tokenbridge, facilitates transfers of TIME between Ethereum and BSC, ensuring fluidity across ecosystems.
Chrono.tech upgraded the TIME token in November 2020 from a basic ERC-20 to the ERC-677 standard, preserving full backwards compatibility while enabling cheaper integrated DeFi interactions. On BNB Chain it exists as a BEP-20 asset; Polygon support extends its reach further. TimeX relies on a Plasma sidechain architecture, settling trades off the main chain for speed while retaining the security guarantees of the root chain.
The initiative traces its origins to 2016, with token distribution commencing in December of that year and the project formally genesis on the Ethereum mainnet in February 2017. In its whitepaper housed under the chronobank.io domain, the team articulated a vision for blockchain-enabled HR. The project advertises no single founder deity; the team operates from Australia with compliance obligations under AUSTRAC. That migration rearchitected the asset for broader composability.
Chrono.tech’s long-short bet is that trustless, automated escrow and identity-agnostic payments collapse the geographic and bureaucratic barriers that segment the modern labor force. It aims to construct a digital employment stack where a developer in Lagos and a startup in London can exchange work and money without a bank or platform intermediary extracting disproportionate rent.
Mechanically, TIME holders wield governance influence over protocol parameters and treasury allocations, though the token's most tangible utility is fee abstraction and staking. Locking TIME on the TimeWarp yield farming application entitles the depositor to a weekly distribution of 100% of the revenues generated by all Chrono.tech products—LaborX fees, exchange spreads, and payment processing margins included. Premium account statuses across the ecosystem require holding or spending TIME.
Instead of validators securing a chain, economic incentives flow directly from protocol revenue to stakers. A freelancer seeking enhanced visibility on LaborX or lower trading fees on TimeX must lock TIME to upgrade their account tier. PaymentX gates premium features identically.
Chrono.tech has a maximum supply of 710,113 tokens. Currently, 710,112.81 are in circulation. The total supply mirrors the circulating count, fixed at 710,112.81 tokens. With a market capitalization of $163,613, Chrono.tech ranks #5,111 among all cryptocurrencies.
