Spectra (APW) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2021. Originally branded as APWine, the asset positions itself squarely within the decentralized exchange and yield tokenization sub-sector of DeFi.
The protocol equips depositors to inject interest-bearing tokens from external platforms into defined future time windows. It then extracts and tokenizes the unrealized yield those assets would generate, making it possible to trade forward income streams months in advance. This directly attacks the liquidity paralysis that conventional yield farming locks in—capital that would otherwise sit dormant until maturity becomes a live, tradable curve.
Spectra operates on the Ethereum network. Its deposit and settlement logic inherits the full security guarantees of Ethereum’s base layer, while the protocol’s architecture has been extended outward to integrate with Polygon PoS and a clutch of layer-2 execution environments.
The core contracts conform to the ERC-20 standard, and a separate deployment lives on Polygon under a different address. Spectrum’s dedicated automated market maker plugs into the Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base ecosystems, listing Future Yield Tokens as chain-native pairs. No alternative consensus layer is superimposed; the protocol absorbs finality directly from whichever host chain processes a given transaction.
The project emerged from France and executed its first on-chain operations on May 18, 2021, just as DeFi’s “DeFi Summer” was cresting. It initially circulated under the APWine label before the core contributors rebranded the entire product surface to Spectra. No public founder identities were disclosed. All contract code remains open-sourced and traceable across a single GitHub organization, though star activity on the repositories has been negligible.
Spectra’s overarching mandate is to convert deferred cash flows into liquid, price-discoverable instruments. By building an order-book-like surface for future interest, the protocol seeds a primitive that lets the market continuously reprice tomorrow’s yields today. That drive toward a fully transparent yield curve pushes DeFi closer to the kind of duration risk management native to traditional fixed-income markets.
APW acts as the native exchange token that fuels Spectra’s internal matching engine. It covers trade execution fees on the future yield marketplace and gets distributed to liquidity providers who seed FYT pools during new epoch launches. The token is also the settlement unit for protocol-governed incentive campaigns that bootstrap the depth needed for nascent yield markets to function without excessive slippage.
Liquidity farmers lock APW into designated staking contracts to receive a pro-rata share of swap fees and emission subsidies. Traders who maintain a balance gain reduced transaction costs when shifting between FYT positions, and arbitrageurs draw on it to exploit mispricings between the spot yield-bearing asset and the corresponding derivative market within Spectra’s own AMM.
Spectra has a maximum supply of 50,000,000 tokens. Currently, 9,635,523.87 APW are in circulation. With a market capitalization of $258,846, Spectra ranks #4,473 among all cryptocurrencies.
