About Kaon

Kaon (KAON) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2019. It operates as a decentralized finance yield aggregator, collapsing the complexity of DeFi into automated savings and dollar-cost averaging tools.

The protocol targets a specific friction in decentralized markets: the steep learning curve and active management burden that excludes non-technical users from yield farming. Kaon abstracts away the compounding, strategy switching, and gas optimization that typically overwhelm newcomers. By packaging these elements into synthetic savings accounts, it creates a passive income layer that functions across market cycles.

Kaon operates on the Ethereum network. Its smart contracts are deployed as ERC-20 tokens, inheriting Ethereum’s security and composability. The project also maintains contract instances on the Sora and Energi chains, extending its yield aggregation capabilities across multiple execution environments.

The Ethereum implementation adheres to the ERC-20 standard, enabling frictionless integration with decentralized exchanges, lending protocols, and asset management vaults. On-chain governance mechanics are encoded within a DAO framework, which controls protocol parameters and treasury allocations. This multi-chain deployment model—spanning Ethereum, Sora, and Energi—leverages each network’s distinct throughput and fee characteristics to optimize user-specific yield strategies.

Originally launched under the name Akropolis in July 2019, the project surfaced during the first wave of DeFi experimentation that would later define the summer of 2020. The team behind it—operating without publicly named founders in the source material—released the akropolisOS and akropolis-network repositories as open-source infrastructure. A subsequent rebranding transformed Akropolis into Kaon, a move reflected in the domain shift to kaon.one and the Twitter handle @kaonlabs, though the original whitepaper still resides under wiki.akropolis.io.

The project’s mission centers on constructing yield products that decouple returns from inflationary token emissions—a structural weakness inherent in many liquidity mining programs. Instead, Kaon targets sustainable yield generation that persists irrespective of bull or bear cycles, thereby acting as a non-custodial savings primitive. Its design rejects the predatory layered-fee models of traditional finance, positioning itself as an anti-intermediary vehicle for long-term capital accumulation.

KAON is the governance and utility token for the Kaon protocol. Holders vote on DAO proposals determining yield strategies and fee allocations. The token also mediates access to synthetic savings products and automated dollar-cost averaging tools.

Users deposit KAON into protocol-managed vaults to earn yield generated by automated DeFi strategies, including lending, liquidity provision, and arbitrage. Governance participants lock tokens to signal long-term alignment and receive voting power proportional to their stake. The dollar-cost averaging module consumes KAON in periodic buy orders, smoothing entry prices for assets like ETH or stablecoins.

Kaon has a maximum supply of 15,000,000,000 tokens. Currently, 4,680,654,980.40 KAON are in circulation. The total supply currently rests at 14,900,313,534, indicating minimal room for further issuance before hitting the hard cap. With a market capitalization of $138,153, Kaon ranks #5,341 among all cryptocurrencies.
