Quant Network (QNT) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2018. It anchors the Overledger blockchain operating system, an interoperability fabric that eschews single-vendor dependency.
The protocol confronts a balkanized landscape where isolated ledgers stifle composability. Overledger delivers a universal translation layer, letting decentralized applications orchestrate logic across Bitcoin, Ethereum, R3 Corda, and an expanding universe of asymmetric networks. It solves the multi-chain fragmentation that has plagued enterprise adoption for years.
Quant Network operates on the Ethereum network using ethash. That architecture grounds QNT in the security assumptions of Ethereum’s proof-of-work chain while Overledger’s gateways abstract execution into a chain-agnostic command set.
Technically, QNT conforms to the ERC-20 token standard, with verified contract instances on Ethereum and the Energi blockchain. The Overledger SDK maps smart contract calls into a standardized meta-transaction format, allowing developers to write once and target any connected ledger. Gateways handle the syntactic reconciliation, so a Solidity contract can trigger a Corda flow or a Bitcoin output without manual bridging.
Conceived by a London-based collective of enterprise architects and former banking technologists, Quant Network emerged from stealth in June 2018. The project eschewed a fundraising ICO, instead focusing on compliance and institutional-grade infrastructure from inception. Early adoption cohorts included payments rails and supply chain consortia seeking to unify their siloed digital asset ledgers.
The network’s long-range ambition is to fulfill the original TCP/IP vision for value: an open, trusted internet where applications and data flow unencumbered by protocol religion. Overledger frames blockchain not as a stack replacement but as an interoperable transport layer, stitching together legacy systems, private chains, and public mainnets into a single execution fabric.
Mechanically, QNT performs as a cryptographic license that gates access to the operating system’s orchestration layer. Every multi-ledger transaction requires a corresponding QNT commitment in the gateway treasury, ensuring metered consumption and preventing spam on the interoperability bus. The token also serves as the economic unit for transaction fee settlement across mDapps.
Developers lock QNT to obtain platform licensing that is denominated in fiat-stable terms, insulating operational cost from market volatility. Enterprises then commit the token to activate gateway nodes that validate cross-chain proof submissions and earn transaction relay fees. Network partners running treasury connectors must maintain a minimum QNT reserve, aligning economic skin-in-the-game with inter-chain state integrity.
Quant Network has a maximum supply of 14,612,493 tokens. Currently, 14,544,176.16 are in circulation. The token’s emission model is static, with no scheduled issuance or burn mechanism altering the fixed cap. With a market capitalization of $1,018,982,065, Quant Network ranks #72 among all cryptocurrencies.
