pSTAKE Finance (PSTAKE) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2021. It functions as a Bitcoin yield and liquid staking protocol within the BTCfi sector, originally backed by Binance Labs.
The protocol allows users to liquid stake Bitcoin—earning rewards from Babylon’s trustless BTC staking for securing application chains—while preserving liquidity through institutional custodians like Cobo. This sidesteps the historical complexity and custodial risk that kept Bitcoin sidelined from decentralized finance. Expert-curated yield strategies and a four-year track record in liquid staking simplify institutional and individual access to Bitcoin-native yields.
pSTAKE Finance operates on the Ethereum network using proof-of-stake. Its token contracts span multiple execution environments, including the MoveVM-powered Sui blockchain and EVM-compatible Base and Blast networks, bridged through the Persistence chain’s Inter-Blockchain Communication integration.
The token adheres to the ERC-20 standard on Ethereum, with equivalent implementations on BNB Chain, Sui, and the aforementioned EVM forks. Security audits from Halborn, Hexens, Oak Security, Immunefi, and Forta underpin the protocol’s liquid staking product suite. The codebase, hosted on the PersistenceOne GitHub, anchors a multi-chain liquid staking derivatives framework.
The protocol debuted in December 2021 via the CoinList Launchpad, quickly securing investment from Binance Labs, DeFiance Capital, Spartan Group, Coinbase Ventures, and Kraken Ventures. Since then, pSTAKE has aggregated four years of operational experience in liquid staking, expanding from the Cosmos ecosystem into Bitcoin-native DeFi. Early adoption rode on the back of the liquid staking narrative, but the protocol’s pivot to BTCfi marked a clear strategic evolution.
pSTAKE Finance’s long-term mission centers on activating Bitcoin’s inert capital by funneling it into decentralized, yield-generating protocols without forcing asset holders to abandon liquidity or self-custody. It aspires to make BTC a productive settlement layer instead of a passive store of value, weaving the largest cryptocurrency into the fabric of interchain security.
PSTAKE itself is a governance and incentivization token. Holders steer the protocol through on-chain votes that determine fee parameters, treasury allocations, and integrations. The token also funds liquidity mining programs across decentralized exchanges, aligning user incentives with protocol growth.
Governance participants lock PSTAKE to propose and ratify protocol upgrades, while liquidity providers on designated automated market makers earn PSTAKE emissions for supplying token pairs. This dual utility creates a direct on-chain feedback loop between active voting power and liquidity depth.
pSTAKE Finance (PSTAKE) has a maximum supply of 500,000,000 tokens. Currently, 439,651,042 are in circulation. With a market capitalization of $43,295.00, pSTAKE Finance ranks #7,266 among all cryptocurrencies.
