About Pendle

Pendle (PENDLE) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2021. It underpins a decentralized finance protocol built for the tokenization and liquid trading of future yield.

Illiquid yield-bearing positions represent a multi-billion-dollar deadweight in traditional and on-chain finance. Pendle decouples the principal from its prospective earnings, minting discrete tokens that represent only the future income stream. These tokens then find price discovery inside a custom AMM engineered to handle the mathematical decay of time-sensitive value.

Pendle operates on the Ethereum network. Deployments extend to Arbitrum, Base, BNB Chain, Optimism, Sonic, and the HyperEVM. The protocol’s contracts run identical core logic across all these execution environments.

The time-decay-aware AMM recalibrates pricing continuously as the underlying yield-generating instrument approaches maturity. PENDLE itself adheres to the ERC-20 standard on Ethereum and its EVM siblings. All contract addresses remain publicly auditable and verified on respective explorers.

The protocol debuted on April 28, 2021, on Ethereum, with no named founders in the public record. YZi Labs, when it was still Binance Labs, provided early-stage funding. That backing accelerated a Binance listing and a chain-agnostic expansion that now includes Berachain and the nascent HyperEVM ecosystem.

Pendle aims to industrialize the trading of future yields, converting what was once an accounting line item into a liquid, tradeable primitive. This unbundling permits a hedger to lock in a fixed rate on a variable-rate deposit and simultaneously lets a trader speculate directly on yield curves without ever touching the principal asset.

PENDLE’s systematic function centers on governance. Token holders determine fee structures, collateral parameters, and the eligibility of new yield-bearing assets for tokenization. The token also interfaces with restaking infrastructure such as EigenLayer, allowing it to be deposited as security weight for external module validators.

Participation in Pendle’s direction requires holding PENDLE; voting power scales with the amount possessed or staked. Through EigenLayer-native restaking, PENDLE holders can delegate their tokens to secure decentralized validator sets, earning additional yield from application-layer protocols. Market makers who actively supply quotes on the AMM also receive token incentives that deepen liquidity for the most volatile yield assets.

Pendle has a total supply of 281,527,448 tokens. Currently, 167,144,895 are in circulation. It is actively traded across 149 pairs on 106 exchanges globally. With a market capitalization of $212,836,548, Pendle ranks #170 among all cryptocurrencies.
