Creditcoin (CTC) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2019. It functions as a bridged token linking Ethereum participants to Creditcoin’s standalone layer-1 smart contract environment, designed explicitly around real-world credit instruments and decentralized physical infrastructure.
The protocol addresses a persistent friction in emerging markets — the opacity and inaccessibility of traditional credit scoring and lending. By anchoring loan agreements on-chain, Creditcoin creates auditable, immutable records of credit history that bypass centralized gatekeepers. Its ecosystem extends into decentralized lending pools, real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, and DePIN deployments, enabling builders to launch cross-chain dApps that interface directly with tangible economic activity.
The system operates on its own blockchain using proof-of-stake. Validators produce blocks and finalize state transitions without the energy drain of legacy mining, a design choice that aligns with the network's emphasis on practical, high-frequency micro-lending.
Technically, the architecture integrates a full Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) execution layer, preserving compatibility with Solidity-based tooling while hosting a separate consensus engine. The Ethereum-bridged representation, CTC, adheres to the ERC-20 standard, enabling frictionless movement of value between the Creditcoin mainnet and Ethereum’s sprawling DeFi infrastructure. That bridge isn’t mere convenience; it’s a deliberate conduit for liquidity, allowing the native asset to function as a vesting vehicle on centralized venues.
Creditcoin emerged from Gluwa, a blockchain-focused fintech firm, with its mainnet launch on April 4, 2019. The project positioned itself early as a conduit for microfinance in markets where banking penetration remains thin. Since inception, the network’s development has centered on practical integrations — connecting wallets, credit funders, and on-chain identity solutions — rather than purely speculative applications.
The protocol’s long-term ambition is not merely to digitize credit but to dismantle the geographic and bureaucratic silos that exclude billions from affordable borrowing. By making loan performance transparent and programmable, Creditcoin hopes to create a global lending market where risk is priced by code rather than by an institution’s data monopoly.
Mechanically, the native asset G-CRE underpins proof-of-stake security and settles transaction fees on the Creditcoin L1. Stakers lock tokens to endorse valid blocks, receiving inflationary emissions in return. The bridged CTC token, issued on Ethereum, serves a complementary role: it is the listed, tradeable instrument with a vesting schedule that manages the gradual release of early allocations into public markets, while simultaneously granting Ethereum users settlement access within Creditcoin-sourced dApps.
Validators stake G-CRE to secure the network and earn protocol emissions. Application developers and liquidity providers can route CTC into Ethereum-based decentralized exchanges to facilitate cross-chain arbitrage or use it as collateral in third-party lending protocols connected through bridging infrastructure. The vesting mechanic also enables backers to hold a time-locked representation, aligning long-term incentives without immediate sell pressure.
Creditcoin has a maximum supply of 600,000,000 tokens. Currently, 535,658,812 are in circulation. With a market capitalization of $78,699,185, Creditcoin ranks #341 among all cryptocurrencies.
